Merry Christmas! Today is Christmas Day and I am keeping this short. Em and I got up early and went for a nice walk at Town Lake. What a beautiful morning! The fall colors are absolutely showing off right now. We took lots of photos of the still water reflecting the city skyline and a row of yellow, green, orange, and red trees.
We also saw a huge flock of what I think were Double-Breasted Cormorants migrating along the river. Several Vs of them flew right over our heads so low that we could hear the sound of their wings flapping! Small V after small V flew over the bridge. It was beautiful and delightful.
But one of the most precious moments of the day was when we started talking to a lady named Julie, and her dog, Franky. I don’t know why this happens often, but I get into these sweet interactions with strangers from time to time. We started talking about the dogs, but then it became about her visiting her daughter, chatted about how I’m slowing down after exiting my business, and we all just commented on the little joys of life. At the end of the interaction, we hugged each other. Emily hugged her, too. We all seemed to equally appreciate the serendipity of the moment.
We went on our way, picked up coffee at Bennu, and then I journaled and practiced qigong. Now it’s time to open presents and watch movies all day!
