This is that time of year when traditionally, I choose a word for the new year, write down some goals or intentions, and begin to map out my schedule. Today’s post is the rough draft of that personal planning session.
100 Liminal Days is an experimental project of embracing my current transitional season after exiting my business by sharing an honest, real-time account of my self-initiation experience in daily posts. Visit Day 1/100 to learn more and sign up to get the weekly recaps delivered to your inbox.
It’s Christmas Eve, and I’m writing this while in a Dharma Artist Collective sprint with about 15 others. Despite the holiday season, we are all working on various personal and professional goals. Doing that collectively – especially during a traditionally slow work day – always feels empowering.
I remember a time when I would have looked for every opportunity to laze around or do the bare minimum on a day like this. But today, I am motivated and excited about all of the ways I am creating and gaining momentum as I head into a new year.
The liminal space has offered me safety and stillness to discover the answers to the questions of my heart, and now I hold those answers gently. This season has taught me what it means to become water, to embrace the reality that as spiritual beings temporarily in physical form, nothing in this life is permanent. Acceptance of my provisional existence frees my mind to focus on the only thing that is certain – this present moment.
Yet, a plan for the future is still beneficial.
A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life],
But the Lord directs his steps and establishes them.
Proverbs 16:9 (AMP)
Some may read this verse and think that it’s saying that we humans plan our path in futility and only God steers our direction, but I see this as a description of how we collaborate with God. This is why I hold the answers gently. My path is determined by an elixir of my plan and God’s. It’s comforting to me to notice that it’s not all up to me, and that it’s possible to do something bigger than myself. Of course, trusting God to take a role in my plans and fill in the gaps for me is an act of faith.
So with that in mind, here’s what’s bubbling up for me as a plan for this next year.
Each year as a way to guide all my intentions, I choose a word for the year. In 2024, I chose Expansion. 2025’s word was Flow. And as I journaled and meditated on this for the new year, the word that came to me for 2026 is Convey.
Convey: 1) transport or carry to a place. 2) make (an idea, impression, or feeling) known or understandable to someone. 3) communicate (a message or information).
(Side note: I also make a Spotify playlist for each year. Feel free to listen to 2024 Expansion and 2025 Flow!)
I’m reminded of my dream symbol of the Native American on the snowy cliff, holding Embrace the Tree, opening a portal from Heaven to Earth. This dream character is a part of me. I am that conduit, poised to convey a heavenly message of love, hope, peace, and inspiration.
These are the ways I intend to do that through writing, speaking, qigong, and art in 2026.
There is plenty of evidence that our society has a waning sense of hope, yet I personally feel hope overflowing. I shared earlier this week about giving from our abundance, and since this is an area I have so much to give, I intend to use my writing and speaking as a way to convey hope to those who feel hopeless or lost.
I intend to:
The presence of peace in my mind, soul, and body has been instrumental to my discovery of who I really am, what I really want, and where I am going from here. Qigong has been the central practice I have used to cultivate peace within myself, and now I want to share it widely with others. This is the primary way I envision earning money in 2026, but it’s also a gift I want to share freely with my community.
I intend to:
The act of creating art heals something in me, so I do this first for my own soul. Painting and creating in other mediums helps me tell stories, and my hope is that these stories inspire others. Through gifts of art, I convey love and inspiration.
I intend to:
This is just the beginning, a starting point. On the page, it looks ambitious, but I’ve honed my focus skills and learned how to carve time for what matters most (most of the time!) These intentions excite me and feel challenging – because I know I can’t do this with just my own plan. It will require my collaboration with and trust in God.
So, here’s to conveying love, hope, peace, and inspiration in 2026!
