Later tonight, Em and I are attending an annual Friendsmasgiving dinner (between Thanksgiving and Christmas!) hosted by our friends, Rachael and Sophia in their home. This is not simply a party – there is a deeply meaningful intention that you feel from the moment you enter the door. They set a long, beautiful table – this year there will be 26 people! Rachael and Sophia personally serve the main dish as sides are passed around. And as we enjoy the food together, each person stands and thoughtfully and vulnerably shares what they are grateful for. We are blessed to be invited, and I find it very heartwarming. In the spirit of the R&S Friendsmasgiving, today’s post is a reflection of gratitude I plan to share at the table tonight.
100 Liminal Days is an experimental project of embracing my current transitional season after exiting my business by sharing an honest, real-time account of my self-initiation experience in daily posts. Visit Day 1/100 to learn more and sign up to get the weekly recaps delivered to your inbox.

Friendsmasgiving Dinner Gratitude for 2025
Last year (2024) was a long year of what felt like holding my breath – hoping, wishing, working to change my life into something more aligned. Now, 2025 has felt like one long exhale. A season of release.
I have to start with saying thank you to Sophia, for being my fantastic and caring attorney, guiding me through one of the biggest moments of my life – selling the business I have led for the last 10 years. I’m so grateful to you for your patient and encouraging communication through what was a highly stressful and drawn out business deal. You helped me stay grounded in reality through it all.
I sold and exited in March, and then entered into what I have been calling a liminal space – that middle zone between what was and what will be. At first, this was insanely uncomfortable. I was used to my days being filled with productivity, hustle, and strategizing, and then in an instant I found myself in a state of stillness.
Stillness, but not peace.
I wrestled with this for months, but then I set out to experiment – to see what would happen if I completely surrendered to the nothingness of this liminal space and documented my experience in real time on my blog.
This began what I call 100 Liminal Days. Today is Day 83/100. I’ve written and published more than 100,000 words since September 1st (all me, no AI slop!) and it has changed everything.
I am grateful for this liminal year. I’m grateful for the lessons of the liminal. I’m grateful for Emily supporting my decision to linger here, to be curious with me, and to practice patience – which anyone who knows her knows is not her natural state 🙂
I want to also give thanks for the spaciousness of more time with my dad who has stage 3 liver cancer. We’ve had some of the most precious moments of our relationship this year – a closeness to each other that wouldn’t have been possible without this closeness to mortality. I’m grateful that I’ve learned a lot about the gift of surrender from watching my Dad’s response to his disease.
There are dozens more specific things I could list here, but the greatest gift of the year has been this liminality creating space for me to see myself and my life differently. I’m grateful to finally see who I am without work, and I’m grateful for this season teaching me to tap into deep inner peace that was always there below the surface.
This liminality is closing now, giving me so much hope and gratitude for the year ahead, too.

Weekly recaps of 100 Liminal Days are emailed on Tuesdays only to my newsletter subscribers. If you want the summaries, share your email here to get on the list. You’ll also instantly receive a free Notion template I use every single day to track my habits and reflect on the day.
This is for you if you are used to operating at a high level but feel mentally overloaded, constantly “on,” or slightly disconnected from your natural clarity.
Each week, I share:
A 10 to 20-minute video guiding you through a simple movement practice to help you shift your internal state anytime, anywhere you need it
Personal stories and reflections on clarity, focus, and sustainable performance as a leader in a highly demanding role
Practical guidance delivered without woo-woo spiritual language to help you reduce internal friction and think more clearly
You don't have to sacrifice productivity and success to take care of yourself. You just need to learn how to consistently remove interference.
